《Statistic Project》
Yufei Zhang + Kenneth Cho
~Survey Prompt: Chinese dramasSurvey question:
Biased - How often do you enjoy watching awesome Chinese C dramas?
Unbiased - How often do you watch C dramas?
experimental design
Bias: We chose to do wording bias because the opinion of the participant may easily be influenced by the speaker glorifying Chinese dramas. It is also an easy bias to do as the method of choosing people stays the same.
The process; We used stratified sampling to choose our participants. We chose 1 person per table during A and C lunch.
Population of intrest: Clements High School students
We believe this is a good design because the survey question indicates a clear purpose for the participant to understand. Participants are more inclined to take the survey as the process is done online to reduce communication problems. (˶‾᷄ ⁻̫ ‾᷅˵)
(Because Kenneth is shy)
DATA -biased
Result:
Around half the participants chose “sometimes” and “often in the biased survey. Around half the participants chose “never”
Less people chose never in the biased survey because of the use of buzzwords such as “awesome”.
DATA - unbiased
Result - More than half the participants chose “never” . There are overall more percentage of people who chose “never” in the unbiased survey. Around 15% more people chose never in the unbiased survey. The percentage of people who chose sometimes and often also went down.
Problems.....uh oh (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)
not having the same luch period as eachother caused some miscommunication.
We didnt have enough time to gather a lot of data
kenneth is shy...jkjkjkjkjkj
If we could repeat this experiment again, one thing we would do is be more organized. I lost the QR code that was supposed to have people scan, so we pulled up the surveys on our phones. This could be prevented if I took more care of my stuff and kept them more organized. The link to the biased and unbiased surveys were mixed up so it was a bit messy in the beginning getting the data organized. This could be prevented if we planned out and communicated before taking the surveys.
